The Proposed Plant in Riesel Will Emit More
Pollution than a Similar Plant in San Antonio
Comparing the draft permits for the Sandy Creek Energy Associates (SCEA) proposed coal-fired power plant in Riesel to
the City Public Service proposed coal-fired power plant in San Antonio shows that the Riesel plant is allowed much more
pollution.
In fact, the Sandy Creek facility would be allowed to emit:
- 100 times as much sulfur pollution
- 50 times as much nitrogen oxides (ozone forming pollution) and
- nearly twice as much fine particulate matter as the San Antonio plant!
